Hey, I’m Mari from Kutaisi, and I work at Rotel, the coziest spot in the city. If you’re staying with us, I might be around to say hi! I want to share one of my favorite day trips from Kutaisi to Martvili. It’s a meaningful place for me since my village is there. But, above all, it’s the nature that makes this trip so special!

If you're looking for a thrilling and nature-filled escape, a day trip to Samegrelo, Martvili is an absolute must. Just a one-hour drive away, this region offers an unforgettable experience filled with wild landscapes, exhilarating activities, and delicious food.

Here, you can hop on a boat and cruise along the river, taking in the majestic cliffs and the cool, fresh air of the surrounding forest. Near the canyon, don't miss the Abhesi Waterfall, a stunning cascade.

Extended Road Trip from Kutaisi: Nokalakevi’s Hidden Gems

If you start early and have time left, you can loop back on a different route and explore some great spots in Nokalakevi. First, stop by the Olympic Pool (free parking available—cross the suspension bridge and follow the path), where you can swim in the Tekhuri River and enjoy jumping into the water while watching local kids leap from high cliffs. Then, just beside, you’ll find the super hot Sulfur Springs, known for their therapeutic waters. Finally, explore the Nokalakevi Archaeological Museum and discover the old fortress remains, offering a glimpse into Georgia's history. Don’t forget to check out the tunnel at the end of the site.

Here’s the whole road trip on Google Maps with all the stops! Feel free to choose your own route, skip some spots, or explore even more. There are plenty of swimming options along the way—if you're doing the full loop, you might want to pace yourself.
